Friday Five 16/09/16
Each week we pick five things we're feeling on the interwebz. We hope you might find them interesting too.
This week: A history of house from those who made it happen, Dave Haslam on the retro/future debate, Will & Ink mix from Frits Wentink, Objekt on DJing and partying in Paris.
History of house
Get yourself a history lesson in the birth and spread of house music from its Chicago origins thanks to Pulse Radio. Comprising a dozen interviews from a who's who of Chicago's house music pioneers, it's a fascinating insight into the growth of house music from those who made it happen.

The future is now
Manchester native and former Hacienda resident DJ Dave Haslam presents a compelling argument against dance music's - and wider society's - obsession with looking backwards. Dance music started as a futurist movement yet in many ways we only seem to revere the past (article above perhaps a case in point). What are the challenges this presents and what should we be doing instead. Chin-stroking stuff, eh?
Will & Ink mix
Wolf Music regular and Bobby Donny head honcho Frits Wentink steps up with a mix showcasing material from his lesser-known Will & Ink imprint. The main man himself explains, "What is probably unknown is that I have been releasing music from close friends on another vinyl label called Will & Ink. The focus for this outlet is mainly techno, but with a playful and forward thinking approach." Listen below.

Frits Wentink was one of the artistic inspirations behind our latest release, Real Deep, which is packed with 850MB+ of deep, wonky, analogue sounds for producers who like to think outside the box.
Objekt on DJing
RA's Will Lynch talks in-depth with the UK techno heavyweight about how he hones his DJing craft. A captivating insight into an artist at the peak of his powers.

Partying in Paris
RBMA hot foot it to the french capital to find out how the city got its groove back. Jean-Yves Leloup explains why the house and techno scene in Paris is stronger than ever. Time to look up those Eurostar tickets...
