Friday Five 12/08/16
Each week we pick five things we're feeling on the interwebz. We hope you might find them interesting too.
This week: grime photos, Tresor-bashing, addictive procrastination, a dose of inspiration and the passing of a London institution.
Grime Time
Our latest sample pack released today is Grime 2.0 and during the process of putting the pack together we dug deep into the culture and development of the sound. We came across Vicky Grout’s raw documentary photos which documented the scene’s transition from underground subculture to mainstream crossover. Her recent gallery exhibition just finished in Hoxton, east London, but you can see a selection of killer shots alongside an in-depth interview over on FACT. Check it.

Procrastinate
We don’t think this is exactly new but we still wasted spent a good few hours jamming beats on this quirky drum sequencer. See you in a few hours…
An insult
Straight talkin’ Scotsman Neil Landstrum sticks it to Tresor and outlines his strategy for artistic longevity. An entertaining interview with one of the most underrated stalwarts out there.
Perseverance
The latest Between The Beats feature on Resident Advisor shadows one of our favourite DJs and producers, The Black Madonna, as she hot-foots it across Europe for a week. It’s a frank and inspirational insight into where a love of the music and an unwavering dedication can get you. Rock on.

Dance Tunnel RIP
NTS regular and all-round nice guy Jon Rust dropped a diverse three-hour warm-up set at one of the last ever Dance Tunnel parties. DT was one of the finest clubs in London and it will be sorely missed. Stick this on, dry your eyes and remember the good times. *Sniff*
